Ammonia buffers, amine chemistry and wastewater testing release basic vapours that standard carbon will not hold. This hood uses 5–15 kg of acid-impregnated activated carbon in a 25–50 mm bed, moving 300–700 m3/h while holding face velocity near 0.4 to 0.5 m/s to capture NH3 and volatile amines.
