For small and medium pathology labs, a carousel stainer of about 600 × 600 × 500 mm gives automated H&E without a large footprint. It takes 1–2 baskets of 20–30 slides through 16–24 reagent dishes at 60–120 slides/h, with dwell times from 1 s to 99 min, 20 stored protocols and one heated drying station.
