A shear result is only valid if the joint plane sits exactly on the shear plane of the box. This kit uses split steel moulds for 54, 63.5 and 85 mm core and blocks to 115 × 125 mm, with adjustable clamps holding the joint horizontal. Spacer plates of 5 and 10 mm set the gap before cement, plaster or epoxy is poured.
