Culturing strict anaerobes means removing oxygen and keeping it out during handling. Options range from simple jars and bags with gas packs to anaerobic incubators, workstations and glove boxes where you can work on plates without exposure. Choose by sample volume and how often colonies must be handled. Methods such as ISO 15213 and ISO 7937 for clostridia, plus CLSI M11 for susceptibility testing, are typical references.
