An impulse turbine module lets a standard hydraulics bench double as a small hydropower lab. The 100 mm PCD runner has 16 buckets behind a clear cover, driven by a spear valve nozzle at up to 0.25 MPa. A band brake with two 0–20 N spring balances and an optical tachometer give torque and speed for output curves of around 10 W.
