Bridge inspectors estimate stay and hanger forces from vibration frequency, and this rig teaches that method against a reference load cell. Cables of 2, 3 and 4 mm up to 2000 mm long are tensioned to 2 kN with a ±0.2% FS load cell. An accelerometer covering 0.5–1000 Hz feeds an FFT analyser at 0.01 Hz, with pluck or shaker excitation.
