Fatty breast tissue and dense specimens freeze best at different temperatures, which a shared chamber cannot give. Independent specimen cooling sets the stage at –10 to –40 °C within ±1 °C while the chamber holds –5 to –35 °C. The stage freezes down in about 15–30 min, allowing mixed tissue types in one session.
