Reading needles over a spinning surface is slow, while a laser scan captures the whole profile in seconds. A laser distance sensor on a motorised traverse maps the surface to 0.2 mm, and software overlays theory. The 300 mm vessel runs free vortices through its outlet or forced vortices on a 0–150 rpm turntable, with a 1–20 L/min flow sensor.
