Bloody effusions, mucoid fluids and urine benefit from membrane filtration, which retains cells while debris passes through. Pores of 5–8 µm capture cells from 1–20 mL of diluted sample under adjustable vacuum, giving 10–18 mm spots on up to 12 samples per run. Filters are disposable membranes or cartridges.
