Large Ring Shear Apparatus for Landslide Research

Fast landslides generate pore pressures that small ring shears cannot model. This apparatus shears a 300 × 200 × 50 mm annulus at 0.001 to 300 cm/s under servo-hydraulic normal stress up to 3 MPa. Pore pressure is measured at the shear zone, with a 5 kN·m torque capacity for undrained, drained and cyclic tests.
