A palm-sized centrifuge at each PCR station saves walking to a shared machine for quick spin-downs. This mini centrifuge reaches full speed in 5 s or less, at 2,000–7,000 rpm, with rotors for 6–8 microtubes or 4 × 8-strip PCR tubes. It runs continuously or while pressed, at 50 dB(A) or less, drawing 10–30 W on 100–240 V.
