Saw-cut ends are rarely flat enough for UCS or modulus testing, and poor ends lower measured strength. This machine grinds 25–100 mm cores of 40–250 mm length with a 200 mm diamond cup wheel at 2800 rpm. Ends finish flat within 0.02 mm and square within 0.25°, with cross feed set on a 0.01 mm dial.
