Industrial adherent processes that have outgrown bench racks can move to a drum system. It carries 10 to over 100 bottles, or drums of 1–10 m² each, for a total growth surface of roughly 2–50 m². Temperature is held at 30–40 °C within ±0.5 °C, with optional CO2 and perfusion from 0.1 to 5 vessel volumes per day.
