When several trial loads are needed for each sample, automatic control removes most of the operator effect. This 600 kN servo system reaches a preset penetration of 15, 20 or 24 mm in 10 min ± 30 s and stops by itself. Displacement resolves 0.001 mm, load accuracy is ±0.5%, and PC software calculates the ten percent fines value.
