Crystal, liquid crystal, fibre and polymorph studies in transmitted light rely on clean extinction and birefringence. This polarizing microscope uses strain-free optics at 40×–600×, a centreable strain-free condenser and crossed polarizers. An accessory slot accepts quarter-wave and full-wave plates. The rotating stage is graduated in 1° steps.
