Small-volume cell lysis, nanoparticle dispersion and emulsification are typical jobs for a probe sonicator. This unit runs at 20 kHz with 50–500 W output and 10–100% amplitude, using titanium alloy probes of 2–20 mm for 0.2–500 mL. Pulse mode switches 0.1–9.9 s on and off to limit heating. Use a cooling bath or jacket for heat-sensitive samples.
