Euler's formula is easy to write down and hard to picture, so this rig lets students watch real struts buckle under controlled load. Five steel struts from 350 to 650 mm are loaded through a 1:10 lever up to 500 N, with pinned-pinned, pinned-fixed and fixed-fixed ends. A 0.01 mm dial gauge reads mid-height lateral deflection as buckling approaches.
