Soundness testing starts with a correctly dimensioned split mould. Each mould is a 30 ± 0.5 mm diameter, 30 mm high spring-brass cylinder with 150 mm indicator arms, and its elasticity is checked to 17.5 ± 2.5 mm under 300 g. Moulds are supplied as a pair with four 50 × 50 mm glass plates, ready for a full test.
