Slabs compacted by roller behave much more like field asphalt than pressed or tamped ones. This compactor uses a 500 mm radius steel segment at up to 30 kN to make 300 × 300 mm or 500 × 180 mm slabs 40–100 mm thick. The platen heats to 150 °C, and the PLC programmes passes and load.
