Superpave mix design depends on a compactor that holds pressure, angle and speed exactly. This servo-electric unit applies 600 ± 18 kPa at a 1.16 ± 0.02° internal angle and 30 ± 0.5 rpm on 150 mm moulds, recording height to 0.1 mm every gyration. Specimens extrude in the machine, and no hydraulic oil is needed.
