Cutter and bit wear drives cost and schedule on TBM, roadheader and drilling projects, and the Cerchar Abrasivity Index (CAI) is the usual way to predict it. We supply the original lever design, the West-type with moving specimen vice, a motorised tester with constant scratch speed, a digital unit that logs force and displacement and a portable kit for site use. Rock type, sample count and whether you need recorded data decide the choice. Testers follow ASTM D7625, and stylus hardness is checked with Rockwell methods to ASTM E18 or ISO 6508-1.
