Two operators can read the same drop several tenths of a degree apart. This tester detects each ball with an infrared beam, ramps at 5 ± 0.5 °C/min from 5 to 150 °C and records both rings at 0.1 °C. A colour touchscreen shows the heating curve, and results go to the built-in printer or USB.
