Slump & Vee-Bee Workability Apparatus — Concrete Testing Equipment

Workability is checked on every truck before concrete is accepted, so slump gear gets heavy daily use on site and in the lab. We offer galvanised and stainless slump cone sets, a complete field kit, and manual and electric Vee-Bee consistometers for stiff, low-slump mixes such as precast and pavement concrete. Expected slump range, site or lab use and the standard you report to decide the choice. Our cones and Vee-Bee units suit ASTM C143, BS EN 12350-2 and BS EN 12350-3.

How to specify

  1. Use the Vee-Bee test when slump falls below about 10 mm; the slump test loses meaning there.
  2. A stainless cone is worth the extra cost if it lives on a wet site every day.
  3. Replace tamping rods with worn or flattened ends; the hemispherical tip matters.
