Non-nuclear gauges give fast in-place density, moisture or stiffness readings without the licensing, radiation safety training and transport rules that come with nuclear gauges. We offer electrical impedance soil density gauges, electromagnetic asphalt density gauges in single- and dual-frequency versions, soil stiffness gauges and TDR moisture-density probes. Material type, whether you test soil or asphalt and how readings will be correlated to cores or sand-cone results decide the choice. Methods include ASTM D7698 and ASTM D7830 for soil and ASTM D7113 and AASHTO T 343 for asphalt.
