Kaplan and propeller turbines suit the low-head, high-flow sites found on rivers, canal falls and barrages, so they matter to irrigation and run-of-river schemes. We build a bench-top propeller turbine module, a floor rig with rope brake, a digital rig with adjustable runner blades, a clear-casing visualisation rig and a closed-loop research stand. Head, flow and whether you need blade and guide vane adjustment on load decide the choice. Model testing follows IEC 60193, and field-style checks use IEC 60041.
