Los Angeles Abrasion Machines — Aggregate Testing Equipment

The Los Angeles test is the most widely specified measure of how coarse aggregate wears and breaks in handling, mixing and service. We build machines to ASTM, EN and IS drum details, plus versions with an acoustic cabinet and a motorised tilting drum for faster emptying. The standard you test to, the noise limits in your lab and how many tests you run each day decide the choice. Typical work is to ASTM C131, ASTM C535 and BS EN 1097-2.

How to specify

  1. Confirm the shelf height and ball charge required by your standard, since ASTM and EN machines differ in detail.
  2. Allow a level concrete floor and a 3-phase or 220 V supply as specified; the loaded drum weighs over 300 kg.
  3. A dust-tight cover and tray save cleaning time when emptying the drum after 500 or 1000 revolutions.
