Marshall specimens are only comparable if every blow drops the same mass from the same height onto a firmly supported mould. We build a manual hammer with hardwood pedestal, an automatic single-hammer compactor, an impact compactor to the European pedestal design, a 152.4 mm large-specimen compactor and a dual-hammer automatic unit. Specimen size, daily output and the standard you report to decide the choice. Hammers drop 4536 g through 457 mm as in ASTM D6926 and BS EN 12697-30, with ASTM D5581 for 152.4 mm moulds.

How to specify
- Mount the pedestal on a concrete block so the base does not absorb blow energy.
- Automatic compactors remove variation in drop height between operators.
