Marshall stability and flow remain the everyday check on dense asphalt mix designs and plant production. We build a manual proving-ring machine, a digital tester with load cell and flow transducer, a computerised model that plots the load-flow curve, a 100 kN machine for 152.4 mm specimens and a 60 °C specimen water bath. Specimen size, data recording needs and lab volume decide the choice. Testers load at 50.8 mm/min in line with ASTM D6927 and BS EN 12697-34.
